CAPTAIN JOHN HULBERT HOUSE (BUILT 1760)

Located in the heart of Sag Harbor, this stately home plays an important part in local history. Constructed in 1760 for Revolutionary War veteran Captain John Hulbert - one of the first designers of the early American flag - this home had fallen into disrepair during the 1990s. Thankfully, it was purchased and completely restored to its former glory by developer and designers Max and Michelle Breskin. Now, the stunningly revitalized home is on the market for $5.995 million.

SYBIL DOUGLAS HOUSE (BUILT 1790)

One of the oldest Sag Harbor mansions located along the iconic “Captains Row,” this classic five-bay Georgian home was originally constructed on the site of the Sag Harbor Whaling Museum in 1790 before being moved down the block in 1844. Located at 189 Main Street, this stunning white frame home remained in the family of Captain Douglas for over two centuries before being purchased by famed photographer Bert Stern in 1992. Stern’s widow plans to transform the home into a private showcase for some of her late husband’s most notable work, which includes photos of stars like Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Twiggy, and Brigitte Bardot. The stunning home offers four bedrooms and three and a half baths, a gambrel roof, Ionic columns, prominent end chimneys, and a surprising seven fireplaces.

49 RYSAM STREET (BUILT 1834)

Tucked away on highly desirable Rysam Street, this cozy and unique Greek Revival home from 1834 offers luxurious amenities inside an old world-style abode. With two bedrooms and two full baths, this cottage is comfortable enough for multiple people to live in - and enjoy the gorgeous wood-burning fireplace, built-in recessed shelving, and exposed original wooden beams. The family room also features a wood-burning stove, and you’ll love the convenient location, close to the marina, restaurants, and shops.

LANFORD WILSON HOUSE (BUILT 1840)

This breathtaking 19th century home is named for the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright who once owned it, located along desirable Suffolk Street. Believed to be the work of famed architect Minard Lafever, who also designed the Old Whaler’s Church and Sag Harbor Whaling and Historical Museum, this home was up for sale in 2019 for $9 million. Around 2012, this home was painstakingly renovated, restoring the gorgeous wide-plank oak flooring and featuring custom fireplaces, a library with floor-to-ceiling bookcases, and a stunningly modern chef’s kitchen.

BENJAMIN HOPE HOUSE (BUILT 1865)

A rare Victorian home with a gorgeous Mansard roof, this home is a true Sag Harbor gem. Victorians are rare in the area due to an economic decline after the whaling era ended, so Hope House is quite unique! The home was built by clockmaker F.B. Hope in 1865, located on Sag Harbor’s iconic Main Street. In recent years, the home has been impeccably preserved and restored, particularly the antique slate Mansard roof. The stunning restoration, completed by Ben Krupinski Builders and AML Architecture with interiors by Michael Lee, was featured in Architectural Digest.
